Background and Aim: The right to nutrition, as a legal and normative framework in international humanitarian law, plays a key role in combating food insecurity. This right, by guaranteeing a dignified life and freedom from hunger, is the basis for the realization of other human rights and is of double importance for vulnerable groups, especially the elderly Methods: The present article, with a descriptive-analytical approach, examines the challenges facing the realization of this right for the elderly, both in Iranian law and in international documents. Ethical Considerations:In the present research, the ethical aspects of the library studyincluding the authenticity of the texts, honesty and integrity, have been observed. Results:The findings indicate that despite the importance of the issue, there is no direct stipulation of the right to nutrition for the elderly in Iranian laws. While it is possible to reach an implicit inference from this right through the interpretation of the relevant laws and by relying on the spirit and content of the laws, such an approach lacks the necessary clarity and certainty. This legal ambiguity can lead to various interpretations and subsequently, the possible violation of the right to food for the elderly. However, international documents, although not specifically referring to the elderly, provide the ground for supporting the nutrition of this vulnerable group by emphasizing the right to food for all people. Conclusion:As a result, in order to strengthen the protection of the right to nutrition for the elderly in Iran, it is necessary to review and amend the existing laws and adopt explicit and transparent laws in this regard. This, in addition to guaranteeing the rights of this segment of society, will be an important step towards the implementation of Iran's international obligations in the field of human rights.
